Bullying can be finished

Program Implementation Strategies

In order to make the mass awareness program effective, a teacher should adopt the following strategies;

  1. Construct mutual respect and promote safety at school about bullying.

  2. Execute comprehensive curriculum to engage all students

  3. Enhance class participation on the topic of bullying

  4. Practice inclusive teaching and learning to ensure that all learners are on board

  5. Encourage supportive relationships among the learners to minimize victimization or harassment

  6. Roll out motivational events such as reward for good behavior in the classroom

Assessing the Success of the Program

As a high school teacher, it is vital to assess the sustainability and applicability. The following assessment criteria can be used.

1. Peer Review

The value of peer review of teaching is great in continuous assessment of the appropriateness of anti-bullying methods and scope of each learning objective since the learning environment is very dynamic. Actually, peer review is the foundation for establishing the relevance of different intervention methods to ensure that the changing needs of the learners are accommodated. For instance, through peer review of the mass participation program, it is easy to initiate other support services such as the inter-personal education without having to change the entire framework of the anti-bullying program.

2. Learners' response and feedback

The strategies to improve the reliability of scoring anti-bullying items are through balancing the plot, scope, and detail in assessment to ensure that analytical and holistic rubrics are well developed and internalized by the learners. The difference between holistic and analytic scoring is that former identifies and assesses components of a finished program while the latter assesses student work as a whole. Based on the feedback for the holistic scoring for comprehensiveness of the awareness program, the elements of plot, setting, and character can be fully organized since the learners' feedback will be reviewed and compared to the situation before the program was implemented.  This means that the aspects of content, delivery, research, and presentation can be examined for their level of acceptance. Modifications can be done on the basis of the feedback.
